Morse Code Converter

About this converter

A Morse code console that keeps ITU timing and runs entirely on your device.

Who runs it

One independent developer. There is no company behind the site, no accounts and no advertising.

What it does

  • Translator: turns text into Morse code and Morse back into text, and detects which one you typed. It plays the code as sound, flashes it on the screen or a phone flashlight, vibrates it, takes input from a tap key and saves a WAV file or an image.
  • Audio translator: reads Morse code from a recording or the microphone: 5–50 WPM, tones 300–1500 Hz, with speed, tone and signal level shown as it decodes.

Timing standard

Codes and timing follow ITU-R M.1677-1, the international Morse code recommendation: a dot is 1 unit, a dash 3, the gap inside a sign 1, between letters 3 and between words 7. Speed is counted on the word PARIS, 50 units long, so at 20 WPM one unit is 60 ms. Farnsworth spacing is optional and off by default.

Where it runs

In your browser tab. Text, sound and files are never uploaded, and after the first visit the site works offline. How to check it yourself: How to check that nothing leaves your device
